24-Day Extended Must-See Places China Tour Including Holy Tibet

A 24-day slow-paced classic route where you can check off all of China’s highlights in one trip: imperial capital history, sacred Xizang, giant pandas, quartz sandstone wonder peaks, karst landscapes and modern metropolises.
Route: Beijing → Xi’an → Lhasa (Xizang) → Chengdu → Zhangjiajie → Guilin / Yangshuo → Shanghai

Days 1–4 Beijing – Ancient Imperial Capital

Highlights: The Palace Museum, Temple of Heaven, Summer Palace, Mutianyu Great Wall, rickshaw tour in hutongs, authentic local life of old Beijing


Day 1 Arrive in Beijing, check in hotel, light casual walk downtown only, full rest to adapt to local time.
Day 2 ：Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City, Temple of Heaven full-day sightseeing. All scenic spots need advance online reservation.

Day 3 ：Hike Mutianyu Great Wall to appreciate grand ancient military defense landscape; experience hutong rickshaw tour in the evening to feel traditional Beijing charm.

Day 4 ：Visit core scenic spots of Summer Palace, wander old Beijing streets; take daytime high-speed train to Xi’an (depart around 16:00, arrive before 21:00 for a full night rest).

Day 5–7 Xi’an – Ancient Capital & Terracotta Army

Day 8 ：Arrive in Lhasa, check in hotel and rest fully; only take slow short walks nearby to adapt to altitude.

Day 9 ：Sightseeing at Norbulingka (low-altitude garden without steep slopes), experience Tibetan royal garden culture with low physical consumption.

Day 10 ：Visit Potala Palace and downtown Barkhor Street; experience local pilgrimage customs and Tibetan market style.

Day 11 ：One-day tour of Yamdrok Lake, enjoy sacred lake and snow mountain scenery; return to Lhasa downtown before dusk.

Day 12 ：Free rest day in Lhasa, free time for local market shopping and light leisure; take early morning flight to Chengdu the next day.

Day 13–14 | Chengdu – Pandas & Sichuan Culture

Day 13 ：Watch giant pandas at Chengdu Panda Base in the morning; stroll Jinli Ancient Street in the evening to experience ancient Shu culture.

Day 14 ：Day trip to Leshan Giant Buddha; taste authentic Sichuan hotpot in the evening, stay overnight in Chengdu without cross-city transfer.

Day 15–18 Zhangjiajie – Avatar Mountains

Day 15 ：Take daytime high-speed train from Chengdu to Zhangjiajie; check in hotel after arrival, only casual downtown walk, no mountain sightseeing.
